MTV’s latest horrible idea? How about Scream – The Series.
Oh, MTV. Jersey Shore, all those rich bitches being paid to continue having white girl problems, Skins USA, and yes, even my favourite Teen Mom. Basically what I’m saying is that the last great idea MTV came up with for a show was Daria:
Oh, Trent. I love you.
Now, let me start by saying that I love the Scream franchise. I love it so much that I can quote big-ass chunks of the script from memory because I’ve watched it countless times. The original film ruled my life for a really long time, and I wanted to be Rose McGowan, because she’s clearly the coolest bitch to ever walk the earth:
Splatter movie killed. Ripped open from end to end.
Anyway, you know what sounds like a horrible idea? Combining the network who thinks people like Amber Portwood make great celebrities (more on her later) with my very favourite movie franchise. No, I won’t have it. No, no no no no no.
So far it’s just a rumour, and there’s no word on whether the Scream’s powers that be (Kevin Williamson/Wes Craven) will be involved in any way. Word is that MTV is looking for writers to develop what would’ve been the fifth and sixth instalments of the franchise into a television series.
Anyway, I’ve made my feelings clear, what do you think? How do you feel about the franchise? Would you want to see it turned into a series? Do you think MTV would be the right fit for a Scream television adaptation?
