French Madonna fans throw bottles, call her a slut.
So Madonna pissed off a whole bunch of her Parisian fans the other day.
Here’s the deal. Madge added a last-minute, more intimate version of her MDNA tour to her schedule. Her fans camped outside for the concert after paying up to hundreds of dollars for tickets. Madge then performed a much abbreviated, 45 minute version of her tour, and the fans lost their shit.
Throwing bottles onto the stage, they chanted ‘remboursez’, meaning ‘refund,’ and then ‘salope,’ meaning ‘slut.’
Personally I wouldn’t pay that much to see Madge anyway, I don’t think, but if saaaaay, my girl Britney charged me hundreds of dollars and the show only went for 45 minutes I’d be pretty upset about it. What do you think?
I don’t see what the big deal was. First off, you need to correct it, tickets were only the euro equivalent of $100. The show was advertised as intimate, and if any of these “fans” did their research, they’d know that intimate gigs only last 45mins-1hr at the most. The way they acted was uncanny and ridiculous and they should be the ones receiving the wrist-slaps.
Also, Madonna paid close to a million dollars for that eight-song show, and she showers her French fans with endless compliments and nods to past French influences on her career, and they treat her like this. Ridiculous.
I read that was the price of standing tickets, but that the seats were up to the Euro equivalent of $270. I agree that their reaction was pretty extreme, but it’s not like people were injured or anything, so it’s whatever.
Wow, that’s pretty absurd considering the seats were all the way in the back… anyways I love Madonna and that would’ve been a once in a lifetime performance to be a part of, she rarely does things like that anymore. From backstage workers I heard on tumblr yesterday that she was a mess because her fans were treating her like that. I don’t think she deserves it tbh! She’s worked very hard to get where she is now.
I thought that too, who would pay that much to sit down that far away from the stage? Ridiculous.
I agree that if you’re a die hard fan then you’d know what you were getting going in, but a lot of people don’t do their research before they buy concert tickets.
When Britney came to Australia with her Circus tour fans were complaining that she was lip synching, as if they had no idea going in that she’s been doing it her whole career. As a die hard Britney stan, I was like ‘how can anyone not know that Britney mimes?!’ but I guess some people don’t pay as much attention as others, you know? It’s probably the same type of thing. Fans who like Madonna and her music but didn’t realise what they were paying for.
It sucks that she’s upset about it, though. If I was Madge and my fans treated me like that I’d laugh all the way to the bank, lol.
I saw the circus tour back in 2009, as well. Circus sounded like she sang bits of it, but the rest was obviously lip-synced but I didn’t have a problem with it, she’s one hell of a performer and the set list was great. But yeah I totally get like why they’re upset but I mean you’re a fan, you should be happy with what you get, especially considering she had you all sing along and talked to you for a good 15 minutes. But knowing her she is probably laughing all the way to the bank right now.
They wanted to see Madge’s Nipple in exchange for their Euro….
