Naomi Watts as Princess Diana, and do you guys think her mouth is weird or is that just me?

The first images of Naomi Watts as the late Princess Diana have surfaced. She’s currently filming Caught in Flight, the biopic about the final two years of Diana’s life, in Croatia. The film is being directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel (Downfall, The Invasion, Five Minutes of Heaven). When cast in the role, Naomi released the following statement:

[It’s an] honor to be able to play this iconic role — Princess Diana was loved across the world, and I look forward to rising to the challenge of playing her on screen.

Let’s take a look at the rest of the images:

Personally, I think the resemblance is remarkable, far more so than I was anticipating.

That being said, okay. Things are going to get weird up in here for a second. Ever since I first saw The Ring when I was 17, whenever I see photos of Naomi Watts I get distracted by this weird thing that’s going on around her mouth where it kind of looks like she stuffs it with cotton balls. Like, not her cheeks, or her lips, but the space that is between her lips and cheeks. I’m going to post some photos, and you guys can tell me if you see it too.

Maybe it’s just because she’s kind of slack-jawed. I don’t know. Either way, I actually really like Naomi Watts, buuuuut I really do find that weird puffy bit under both sides of her bottom lip distracting.
